Artist İdil Üstünel, born in Istanbul in 1964, began working at an advertising agency whilst studying Chemical Engineering, and from then on began to engage in many areas involving creativity while working.
Artist İdil Üstünel, born in Istanbul in 1964, began working at an advertising agency whilst studying Chemical Engineering, and engaged in areas involving creativity while working.
After working at the agency of cartoonist Salih Memecan, she worked for an extended period within her own firm, working on implementing toy creation, and on the development and marketing of 3D promotional materials.
She attended Irfan Önürmen’s workshop at Pi Artworks and followed on to working in the Nilgün Sabar workshop for a long period. It was during this workshop between the years of 2010 - 2014 that İdil developing creativity through the free association method producing 2 and 3 dimensional works among exploring various other artistic disciplines.
Her interest in light and colours was expanded whilst participating in the Izzet Keribar workshop. In 2017, she went on to produce pieces using original printmaking at the IMOGA Etching [Print] Academy.
İdil has also participated in numerous exhibitions, including three solo shows, one in 2011 at the Düşkuşağı Gallery Artist Çukurcuma, and two at the Imoga Art Space, one being in December 2017 titled, "The States of the Peony", and one in December 2020 titled, "The States of the Peony II."
