Speaking on this piece, Coşkun says, "Thinking of the carnival as an ancient rite that points to getting rid of winter and welcoming the springtime as it gets closer, I recalled the wonderful piece of ballet music by Stravinsky 'Le Sacre du Printemps.' I watched various performances of 'The Rite of Spring' and it evoked strong emotions in me every time. This music, full of changing rhythms and directions, was immensely impressing.
As a student, one of my peers was experimenting with percussion, and I had the opportunity to accompany him. I remember how I tried to imitate the drumbeats of Stravinsky's revolutionary ballet music. More recently, I’ve noticed that in my experimentation with drawing, I often employ something that may be related to that early experimentation with sound, particularly in my use of changing rhythms and contrasting colour and shape combinations.
I use wax crayons to draw on paper which allows me, while drawing, to create an effect closer to painting than to drawing. In this difficult age, I have tried, in these works, to convey a feeling of energy and optimism linked in my mind to an attempt to revisit a much earlier time of humanity."
