Ideal Space 01 - The Original
An unframed 200 x 150 cm original artwork by Coskun Demirok.
In this series I combined the methods of architectural drawing and painting. An endless grid construction that expands vertically, describes a virtual space. The dimensions of the grid cannot be estimated and located. The observer moves in an undefined, endless environment. He seems to recognise a vanishing point, though spacial localisation and point of view of the spectator remain unclear. The painting creates a kind of zero gravity, an ideal space where one loses his weights in the broadest meaning of the word and moves through a virtual space. Dark blue lines in a sky-like space transfer a dynamic movement and energy to the observer.
In this series I worked out of a moment, placing battens and brush strokes in a dynamic act in mostly blues, reds and black of acrylic paint on the canvas and successively sets lines to form geometric formations.
