Website: Sarah Knill-Jones
Sarah Knill-Jones currently lives and works in Paris, and has a studio in a reclaimed office block with 170 other artists from all over the world. She studied at Glasgow School of Art and received her MA from Camberwell, University of the Arts London in 2010.
Her painting practice has been challenged and nourished through years of living in various countries of unique cultures such as Turkey, South Korea, Angola and Brazil. Her works are often unpredictable experiments which hover between the ethereal and concrete. However, it is the visceral connection between the body and the semi-liquid texture of paint that is at the core of her work which she extends to experiments with video, photography and print.
Sarah has exhibited worldwide, from the Museum of Modern Art and the MiM Center for Contemporary Art in Baku, Azerbaijan, to Zagat Gallery, Rio de Janeiro, and closer to home with Studio 1.1, the Mall Galleries in London, and the Royal Academy in Edinburgh.
She has been an artist in residence at Despina, Largo das Artes, Rio, Proyecto ‘Ace, Buenos Aires, and Trélèx in Switzerland, and she taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baku, Azerbaijan where she also co-founded the association ALOV Art and Critique Project Azerbaijan.
Her works can be found in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the University of Northampton, the Museum of Modern Art in Baku, and in numerous private collections.
